Myofascial Release for Healing and Pain Relief

Alex Lapierre Using Myofascial Release On A Female Patient in Canton, GA

Inside your body is a thin layer of connective tissue, called fascia, which surrounds and supports your organs, joints, nerves, tendons, ligaments, even your cells. Made mostly of collagen, fascia reduces friction between moving parts, eases muscle tension, and helps all your body’s systems work properly.

Over time, and often as a result of injury, surgery, or inflammatory response, the fascia around the muscles can tighten and draw up. The resulting fascial restriction creates pressure on the body which translates to pain and stiffness, often confused with muscle or joint pain, and can lead to a host of other health problems. Drugs and traditional physical, occupational and massage therapies only treat the symptoms without reaching the source.

The MFR therapists Alex and Alina are both amazing. Until you have had MFR release done properly, it is hard to explain how much it aids with overall healing.

Myofascial Release (MFR), sometimes called “fascia massage”, addresses the pressure on the restricted myofascial system which causes a “straightjacket” effect on the body. This treatment provides a gentle decompression of the mind, body and soul and helps to relieve pain, stiffness and feeling “stuck.” MFR patients experience true healing without the symptom-masking effect of drugs or temporary relief of traditional therapies.

Drug-free Pain Relief with Lasting Results

Pain in one’s body can be life-altering. Chronic pain, physical dysfunction and other symptoms of fascial restriction often lead to emotional and mental distress that negatively affect the patient’s quality of life. Once the pressure on the fascia is alleviated, symptoms including chronic pain, stiffness, headaches, even jaw pain (TMJ) and fibromyalgia, are released and the body is able to heal itself.

I was aware of MFR as a beneficial therapy for horses and sought out Alex to work on me when I started having a weird spasm in my right side that I could not resolve on my own. I was awed by Alex's knowledge of the interconnectiveness of the body and her ability to feel her way through the body. While I went for a specific issue, I have been amazed at the whole body changes I have experienced in only a few sessions with her. She has helped correct issues that had never thought could be corrected. I have experienced drastic improvements in my horse riding position that I had been unable to achieve with years of lessons and have experienced notable cardio and weight lifting improvements as she has helped my body work realign itself and optimize its functionality. I am thrilled at the progress we have made and am grateful to have such a wonderful therapist to help me achieve my peak performance.

Myofascial Release patients enjoy freedom from pain and other symptoms, but there are even more benefits to this holistic practice.

  • Full-body physical, mental and emotional healing. Healing of pain and other dysfunction in your body can help you let go of the related emotional and mental effects and return to (or find) the active, fulfilling life you’ve been missing.
  • Faster healing, especially in post-surgical cases. Many of my clients have found that they make faster progress in traditional physical therapy and post-surgical rehab when working with me simultaneously.
  • Peak athletic performance. Career athletes, casual fitness enthusiasts and everyday people alike can reach their full physical potential with the help of Myofascial Release.
